1.What is expected of me?

As one of Implicor’s casual employees you will be looked on to perform a public relations role as well as any assigned duties.

Simply, this means that if a client is impressed with you and your work, it reflects back on us and therefore we will favour those of you who project a good image, i.e. if we get work, you get work.

As a casual employee you are free to accept or to refuse assignments. However, once an assignment is accepted, we expect you to:-

  1. report promptly for work;
  2. work to the best of your ability;
  3. complete the entire assignment.

A casual employee’s assignment may be terminated at any time.

A casual employee is virtually on call at any time, with notice ranging from hours to weeks and jobs lasting hours to months.

PLEASE REMEMBER: you are our employee and we ultimately take responsibility for your actions, therefore any problems or queries should be addressed to us first.

Do you understand question 1?

2.What happens if the company I am temping with, offers me more work?

Should a client or any of that client’s subsidiaries or associated companies offer you any position, whether it be temporary or permanent, we MUST be notified. This issue is covered under our terms of business/agreement with any clients. A fee is payable by them to us if they offer you employment. This applies for up to a year after the cessation of the most recent temp assignment.

A release fee to compensate us for recruitment costs is payable by the client; whether or not you apply to them directly, for the same role or not, within 12 months of the cessation of the most recent assignment.

3.What do I need to give Implicor payroll?

Before you commence work you must complete and/or submit the following:

  1. your bank account details, so that your pay can be sent via EFT.  Please note that we recommend that after submitting the EFT form, you use the "back key" to return to this page, that way you won't lose your answers.
  2. read the Implicor Collective Agreement.
  3. Tax File Number Declaration Form (this is a sample only, therefore a hard copy is required and will be sent to you).

If you do not understand or know what is required, please ask. We will accept the information you provide as being correct.

By submitting your bank account details, you are acknowledging that you have also completed the other tasks outlined in question 3.

Do you understand question 3?

4.Do I pay tax?

Remember, once any income has been sent to the government as tax, it cannot be refunded.

We would prefer that you keep as much of your pay as you are legally entitled – please help us to help you.

Also, you MUST provide a tax file number (refer to question 3). Failure to do so will mean that up to half your pay could be taken as tax.  The form itself will provide more information.

Do you understand question 4?

5.When is pay day?

A normal pay week will be from Wednesday to Tuesday. Wages will be processed and electronically transferred to your bank account no later than Friday morning. Therefore you must ensure that all timesheets are approved and at our office by Tuesday afternoon. Timesheets should be emailed or faxed to us on 9481 1510 (if you intend mailing your timesheet, let us know). You must also provide us with your bank account details prior to first being paid. (refer to question 3).

The minimum number of hours you will be paid for is four (4) per pay period (provided the assignment is NOT continuing into the next pay period).

Client instructions or advice regarding salaries or any related issues are irrelevant and will no way alter the arrangement you have with us.

N.B. Begging, grovelling, pleading, stand over tactics, etc, will not change our minds regarding payment on late timesheets.  Your pay, your responsibility.

Do you understand question 5?

6.Can I work overtime?

Yes.  However overtime must be approved by the client.  If the overtime is not approved and the client disputes it, we will not pay you the overtime.

Hours shall not exceed 8 hours in any one day or 40 hours in any one week without approval of the client. Your estimated finish date is an ESTIMATE. Hours per assignment are subject to work restrictions, i.e. the assignment may be extended or shortened at any time for any reason.

If you require any time off work for interviews, etc, please let your contact at Implicor know. We must be given reasonable notice so provisions can be made with the client.

PLEASE REMEMBER: you are our employee and we ultimately take responsibility for your actions, therefore any problems or queries should be addressed to us first.

You are paid a casual rate, this hourly rate has already been loaded for annual leave, sick leave, public holidays.

All Implicor temps will be paid at rates commensurate with age, skills, ability and also on duties performed. For example, a senior secretary performing the role of receptionist will be paid at the receptionist rate. You will be informed of this rate before the commencement of the assignment.

Do you understand question 8?

9.How do I get a pay rate increase?

Generally, rates are reviewed in the following circumstances:

  1. when superannuation increases;
  2. when the relevant award increases;
  3. when any relevant statutory body with the law on it's side, says so.  Naturally these change from time to time.

Outside of this, any change in pay rates is solely at Implicor's discretion.

If you require a rate review please make an appointment to see us, ensuring you have a list of substantiating reasons.

Do you understand question 25?

26.There seems to be a lot of office gossip?

What you think of permanent employees and how they do the job is irrelevant; it is how you do the job you are currently employed to do and how pleasant you are to work with, that is important.

Clients are sometimes known to cease assignments early, with innumerable excuses when in fact they are annoyed that temps have become involved in office politics.

PLEASE REMEMBER: The rule of thumb for situations like this is to keep out of it, if you think you are about to become a victim of a situation, talk to us so that we can attempt to diffuse the situation.  One statement of warning though – talk to us immediately – we don’t like to hear that you have been “bad mouthing” other staff.

Do you understand question 26?

27.Who do I speak to about references?

References on ex-employees of Implicor may only be given by Implicor.

Legislation with respect to these matters is now quite onerous.  Obviously if someone thinks they are not going to get a good reference, then they won’t be asking the boss; so by giving that person a good reference you are then holding yourself out for legal action for providing misleading and false information.
